Ontario Election 2007 - Co-ops Speak Up

On October 10 voters in Ontario will go to the polls to elect a new government. An election is a good time for co-op members to talk about the issues that are important to them. The co-op sector in Ontario has created an election campaign for co-ops. We are asking a new government in to do the following:

  • build more co-op housing
  • create new rent-geared-to-income subsidies
  • upload municipal co-ops

Members should ask candidates where they stand on these important issues when they come to you door. Attend all candidate's meetings and ask questions. Write or email the candidates in your riding to find out what they think.

Watch for materials in your co-op and get information about the campaign from CHF Ontario. Use the links to send an e-mail to candidates in your riding.

If you hear about an all-candidate's meeting or other election event in you riding please, let us know. We will encourage other co-op members to attend.

CHFT Fall Education Program

CHFT is offering its fall training program for co-op members.

We are pleased to be offering two new workshops that we think are very relevant for some of our member co-ops. Space is limited so make sure you register early.

  • When Your Community is Threatened is being offered because many co-ops do not know where to turn when a traumatic event happens in the co-op. Resources are available. Come and find out where to find them.
  • Using Your Capital Reserve Plan is being presented by the Social Housing Services Corporation. This workshop is for municipally administered co-ops.

Of course, we are also offering some of our most popular standard workshops. Register soon to attend workshops on good governance, filling units, understanding finances and being a good employer.

Member co-ops can take advantage of on-line registration
