Success stories

Margaret Laurence
Atkinson Co-op

Governments may not provide much assistance to build new co-op homes. But people are still working to develop new units and create dynamic self-managed communities.

Sometimes this means creative use of existing space that co-ops. Sometimes it means converting existing rental housing into co-ops.

It always means that more people have affordable homes where they democratically make the decisions about their housing.

Here are a couple of recent success stories:

Margaret Laurence Co-op
Converting elevator shafts to affordable apartments

Atkinson Co-op
Converting government housing to a co-op
