Training Method
Students work closely with our trainer. The trainer
teaches fundamental concepts, demonstrates software procedures,
and works with the students to make certain they learn the required
skills. Hands-on exercises give each student systematic practice
with concepts and procedures. About four hours each day are scheduled
for class practice.
Students are expected to commit an additional
hour to training on our computerized keyboard tutor. All work can
be completed during class hours, if students attend regularly and
punctually.
The CHFT Computer Centre has specialized in MS
Office training for seven years, during three different versions.
Our curriculum and exercises are carefully matched to the skills
that employers require. We have written our own text, which gives
clear and practical instructions for the skills we are teaching.
Who Should Take This Course
If you use Microsoft Office in your work, this
course will benefit you. Applicants must have a minimum keyboard
speed of 25 wpm., basic computer literacy, and appropriate English
and math skills, including the calculation of percentages and basic
algebra. Applicants must have prior relevant work or volunteer experience.
An Intake Interview with the Program Manager is required. Please
see How to Apply for more information on booking an appointment.
Facilities and Class Times
Training takes place at the CHFT Training Centre,
located at 658 Danforth Avenue, Suite 305, a block east of Pape

and a half of each day is for lunch and breaks.
Certification
Certificates are presented to participants who
attend regularly and punctually, and who demonstrate the required
skills to our trainer in the work that they submit during the course.
Testing and evaluation are built into our regular training activities.
